About Skaie

At the age of seven, I discovered the magical comfort of music through a dusty, hole-filled window screen of an El Dorado truck camper. Dragged to and from every swimming competition in California and Arizona chasing the Olympic dream that my mentally ill father never realized, I’d pass the time and anxiety of each day pressing my nose against the screen, singing for hours into the highway wind.

By the time I was twelve, I started writing songs that captured the ups and downs of my life like a diary, and soon realized this would be my path in life. From high school to college in San Diego, I secured a developmental deal with Geffen Records, then two independent signings that led to several U.S./Canada tours and six CD releases.

Today, I write singer-songwriter-forward songs with a twist of country, pop, rock, and indie. I’ve been honored to write with country hit songwriters, Mark Irwin (“Highway Don’t Care”, “Redneck Crazy”), Keesy Timmer (“Yeah, Boy”, “Dirty South”), Brian Davis (“Memory I Don’t Mess With”, “Small Town Small”) and Jason Sever (“Seein’ Red”, “Reason to Love L.A.”), and am working towards placing my songs with top country and pop artists, as well as film and television.

To date, my film/tv credits include: Sugar (Apple TV+), Welcome to Chippendales (Hulu), Stumptown (ABC), Supergirl (CW), American Horror Story 1984 (FX), The Americans (FX), Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce (Bravo), Holiday Baggage (Hallmark Channel); Making the Video, Punk’d, Road Rules, Extreme Challenge, The Real World (MTV), and wrote original music and music directed live theater in Hollywood, California - Shakespeare’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “Twelfth Night”. “I write songs because I love to create stories with beautiful melodic landscapes in hopes that they will connect with and move a listener.”
