Kookaburra
The Backstory…
Most all my life, I’ve kinda been known for my kooky laugh. So, when considering including a cover song on this album and learning that the native eastern Australian Kookaburra bird is also known for its laugh, the decision was an easy call. Note: also a rebel, I added an original bridge ‘cause I thought it added a touch more color.
Lyrics
Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree.
Merry, merry king of the bush is he.
Laugh, Kookaburra! Laugh, Kookaburra!
Great your life must be.
Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree.
Eating all the gumdrops he can see.
Stop, Kookaburra! Stop, Kookaburra!
Leave some there for me!
Your laughter echoes through the trees,
Like a boomerang it comes back to me,
Oh kooky bird, how’d you come to be,
I guess you’re here to remind us just to be…happy.
Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree.
Merry, merry king of the bush is he.
